Wobbly Wednesday... Beer.... just beer

I love a good mixed bevvy as much as the next girl... something a little sophisticated, maybe garnished with fruit, or a pickled bean, but really I'm a simple girl.... Sometimes all you really want is a nice simple cold pint. :) Newcastle Brown Ale is one of my favorites. If you haven't tried it, give it a whirl! it's pretty darn tasty!

Hope you're all having a good one!

Back to the grind...

Today was a wonderful day. It was a "pajama day" where I finally got to "undeck the halls" at my house. I've been away since boxing day and crazy busy this week so this was really the first time i've had to take down everything and get my cute little retro cabin back :)

I was also able to get a jump start on a few tasks that I've really been putting off for a while now. They're just not as much fun as the party planning part of this job ;) but i'm happy to say that I'm on my way to having those complete! Yay me! hehe

When I was packing up the Christmas stuff I took a minute to take a few pics of some of my favorite vintage decorations. They were given to me after one of my aunt's passed away and I love them. :)

Hope you all have a lovely evening :)

99 Red Baloons....

I just love balloons! They're not for everyone, it's true, but I think if done right, balloons can give a fun, and festive feel to your event. It's such a simple prop, but can have the biggest impact!

My favorite are the huge round oversized ones that are used 1 or 2 at a time. I buy all my balloons from Mrs Barry at the Dayley Planet in Duncan. She's got the best colours and the quality of their balloons is fantastic.

Here are a few of my favorite balloon inspiration pics...

Hope you all have a fabulous day!!

What's on my table...

I'm very fortunate to be blessed with so many wonderful friends. :) I wish I was able to see some of them more often, but even though I don't get to see some of them as often as I'd like, I love them just the same :) Everyone has been so busy with the holidays, switching jobs, and their families that we thought it was time for a quick little get together. A few girlfriends and one certain Mr. came by for lunch and a visit. Was really great to see everyone, it's been a while since I laughed that much and it was just what I needed!

It's always nice to try and make your table look pretty. My best friend Kim gave me a great tip for keeping your table festive and it's super cheap. Instead of using whole table cloths, which can get pretty pricy and take up alot of space, (believe me I know), she suggested just using bits of cloth for table runners. It's great because you can always find bits of fabric in the discount bin, or because you're only making a table runner, you can splurge and get the fancier stuff that may have been too pricy if you were making an entire table cloth!

What's on my table:
Swatch of navy blue with white polka dotted fabric
Vintage milk glass vases from my personal collection. (one was a gift from Emily)
Yellow mums from the grocery store. ( I think they're mums)

What was on the menu:
Carrot, Yam, Apple and Ginger Soup
Spinach, Bacon, and Feta quiche
Spinach salad
and Caramel Apple Pie Crumble for dessert! (from Safeway, not homemade but sooo yummy)
oh and white wine of course ;)

Have a great night everyone!

Wobbly Wednesday.... Fruit Sparklers

It's been forever since I've posted one of these! One of my New Year's resolutions is that I'm going to be better about my blogging, so hopefully you'll all be hearing from me on a more regular basis. :)
These little fruit spritzers are super light, tasty, and just plain pretty! Really they're just two ingredients each and easy to whip up when friends pop round for a visit :)

What you need:
  • 3 table spoons of sugar
  • Ruby Red grapefruit juice (or another favorite fruit juice)
  • sparkling wine
  • Apricot Juice
What you need to do:
Grapefruit Sparkler
Scatter the sugar into a large bowl. Wet your finger in water and trace around the rim of the glasses. Dip the rims of the glasses into the sugar. Pour 1 ounce of Grapefruit juice into the glass, then top with sparkling wine.

Apricot Sparkler
Pour 1.5 ounces of Apricot juice into each champagne flute. Top with 5 ounces of sparkling wine.

See? Easy stuff. You're friends will be more than impressed!

Love to all,
Tam xo

Lanterns, Lights and Swag...

Have you ever met someone and just instantly clicked? That was how I felt when I met Michelle (the lovely bride to be), and her amazing mother in law Jo. :) They were so friendly and easy going, it really felt like I was having coffee with old friends :) Michelle and Clay were getting married, and the ladies and I were meeting to chat about reception decoration ideas. Michelle already had a pretty good idea of what she liked and didn't like, so it made my job super easy! After a few site visits, emails and chats my team and I were good to go!

The night was long, our arms were sore, we were covered in ceiling tile dust, we laughed and almost cried, but after some hard work, some really bad music, and help from my amazing crew that stayed until the wee hours of the morning, it was done, and it looked AMAZING!!

Here are some of our favorite pics. :) Photos are courtesy of the bride and groom.

Aren't they cute? :) Congratulations and special thanks to Michelle and Clay. It was tons of fun, and we really appreciate you thinking of us!
Hope you all have a lovely evening!
