Wobbly Wednesday... Elderflower Champagne Cocktail

Hello Lovelies! 

I hope you're all doing well and enjoying some of the amazing sunshine! I cannot wait to work in my yard this weekend. It's been a bit hectic lately, and I've had some back yard construction going on. Hoping this weekend will be the time where I can get all my flowers planted, and make my outdoor space as pretty as my indoor space :) 

I've been doing some research for one of my couples to help them find the perfect signature cocktail for their wedding this summer and this one spoke to me. Criteria was that it had to be the perfect summer cocktail. Something not too sweet, and should be light and refreshing and cost effective. I think this one fits perfectly! And really who doesn't like champagne! It's fancy, and not to mention delicious! 

So here you go!

What you need: 

• Ice
• champagne or prosecco
• thinly sliced cucumber
• Fresh mint
• St. Germain (click here to see what exactly this is... )

What you gotta do: 

Fill a glass with ice. Fill the glass 3/4 of the way full with champagne or prosecco.  Add thinly sliced cucumber and mint. Top it off with St-Germain and you are done!

I'm so excited to be able to introduce Rachael, the newest addition to our little Blue Lily team! I knew as soon as I met her that she was the perfect fit for Blue Lily and I'm sure you will too! We share a love for all things vintage (especially the 1950's), and creating beautiful things. She's full of energy, and has tons of ideas; plus she's probably one of the sweetest people you will ever meet! I'm so glad she's here! xo

Hello friends!! 

My name is Rachael and I am so excited to announce my very FIRST blog post with Blue Lily Events! I am a university student with a passion for 50’s style, D.I.Y. projects and pugs. I believe that in order to be successful and stress free in your life you have to be able to maintain a balance between body, mind and spirit. To cultivate that balance I find myself exercising my mind in Anthropology class, exercising my body as part of the UVic rowing team, and letting my spirit show through fun creative projects! I am so thrilled to be a part of Tammy’s amazing company and cannot wait to start my journey with Blue Lily!

 Spring has officially sprung (Yay!) and at the University of Victoria, students are certainly taking full advantage of the warm weather. From unisex top-knots, to elegant floral rompers, the legendary ‘island style’ is living up to its creative reputation! With the sunshine overhead, and a cool iced tea in hand, I am perfectly prepped to start taking notes on my ideal summer attire.

I used to find it hard to work up the courage to wear things I wanted to because of the fact that I am so passionately enamored with 50s style, going over the top (as one must do – its an all or nothing threshold, really) may earn me some … interesting looks.  But here in Victoria, with so much vintage-inspired style I catch myself dreaming up the perfect summer gear. I shall have no fear strutting my stuff in all sorts of aged gems. So without further ado, here is Things I Love: Spring Edition

I got a brand spanking new website!

I have to admit, I'm pretty darn excited right now... Today I was able to launch my brand spanking new website! I've had this blog now for a few years and it's been great! I love sharing my work, inspirational things I find, and my random moments in life, but was wanting (and needing) an actual static website for prospective clients. I just couldn't ever get the look I wanted right. Then came Emily from Starling Memory Designs! She was able to create an easy to use, beautiful, and fun website for me that really reflects who I am :) I am forever grateful to her and can't thank her enough! I am over the moon with it! 

Not to worry though, I will still have this blog and continue to update it with my randomness ;)  (hopefully at a more frequent pace now that the new website work is done).

New Year.. new start... new me :)

So this might be a little late for a New Year's Post, but I've been thinking about this since the New Year so that has to count for something right? Like many people, I think of Jan 1st as a new start, a clean slate, or at the very least something fresh. In years past I've made resolutions and some have been kept, some not. I am happy to say that I got to cross a few things off "my list" last year and met some goals so that was nice. :) I'll take my "wins" no matter how small they seem to be. :) 

I've been doing some thinking, reflecting, and maybe even some "growing" this past little while.  I've decided that this is my year. My year to work hard, play hard, really look into what makes me happy and make the most out of every day and every moment I have. The above photo is my new desktop. It's all pictures I found on Pinterest and the words kind of hit home with me. Sometimes you really do have to stop and just be grateful and take ownership of your life and how you're living it. :) I know I've said it before, but I really mean it, I've met some amazing and wonderful people on this little adventure, and even on the days when the bank account is thin, the days are long and I feel a little overwhelmed with my list of things to do and people to see, I'm so grateful to be able to be doing the things I love. :)

So here's to new beginnings, old and new friends, working hard, enjoying all the lovely things and moments life has to offer and just being happy. :)
