Fun and Unique Dessert Tables...

You all know one of my favorite things to do is to search the Internet for fun and unique inspiration pics and save them for later :) One of my absolute favorite things to look at is dessert tables. The more unique the better!  I love to see what simple, but elegant, fun, and fantastically original things people come up with. My favorites are the pastel coloured mismatched ones. I love using odd pieces of furniture from around the home, especially if it's an outdoor wedding!

You know me.... traditional is pretty, but I love the whimsical ones the best! Here's a few of my favorites...

{An old piece of furniture in a fun colour can add a little something to your display}

{This old dresser makes an amazing tea and dessert station}

{Lemonade anyone?}

{The pastel cakes, and different tiered cake plates... sigh... smitten with this one}

{ Got an old truck that you love? Why not use it for this cute and quirky dessert table! }

{There's something to be said about a simple and elegant lace table cloth.... }

{Mismatched tea towels, old windows and table cloths make a beautiful backdrop
for this barn wedding theme}

{There's always room for peonies!}

{Candles, flowers, and a mismatched fabric banner really make this display}

Hope you all have a lovely evening :)
Love to all,
Tam xoxo

Race Car Cupcakes...

These are some pics of some cupcakes I made for Doc the Barber for their Canada Day celebration. Race car cupcakes were requested so that is exactly what they got!

Jenn aka "Doc" is the owner and talent behind Doc the Barber. They are an authentic barber shop located on Willow St in Chemainus, BC. I'm told the straight shaves are truly amazing and should be experienced by all! So next time you can't decide what to get one of the men in your life, go see Doc!

Check out her Facebook page here.

You are my sunshine...

I'm really loving on yellow right now... everything from dresses, and hair accessories, to home decor! Here's a few pics I've come across that caught my eye. I've tried to source as many as I can but sometimes it's tough.  I tend to hoard images ;) I'm the Queen of looking up pretty things on the internet and saving them for furture inspiration. :) If I've missed yours, please let me know! I'll be sure to give you credit!

Mother's Day, good friends and cupcakes...

I hope you all enjoyed this mother's day weekend as much as I did! Mine was definitely busy, but tons of fun! I spent most of it visiting with family and friends, and in the kitchen making cupcakes :) My little friend Sydney turned 9 this last week and asked if I would make the cupcakes for her party. She was pretty excited when I told her she could pick any kind she wanted and even more excited when she found out we could put chocolate pudding in the middle of them ;) We decided they would be vanilla cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate pudding in the middle, oh and they had to be pink and red.

I was so happy to hear that everyone loved them! Good choice on the flavors Syd!

Here's a few pics of the finished product...

We usually combine  Mother's Day with my Mom's birthday as they're only a few days apart, so this year I had the family plus my two good friends Lisa and Lisha over for dinner. Such a good time! My stomach hurts from laughing so much! So glad they could all make it! Instead of cake this year my mom requested cupcakes... The recipe for these little beauties came from the ever so lovely and talented, Miss Martha Stewart. The pics below are mine from tonight.. not bad for my first attempt :) Click here to find the complete instructions directly from Martha herself! They turned out to be super cute, and actually pretty easy to make!

Wishing all you amazing Mamas out there a fantastic Mother's Day!

A sunday afternoon...

This last Sunday I enjoyed a little bit of time to myself and got a chance to play with my new cupcake decorating set.

They're not perfect, but I was happy with my first attempt. :) Since then, I've found some really great and fun ideas, and can't wait to try them out this weekend!

Cupcakes and Sunshine!

Two of my most favourite things! The beautiful weather is here, and with that I've been busy planting my flowers, doing some spring cleaning and trying new recipes in the kitchen. This one is a lemon cake with homemade lemon icing.
Was even yummier than it looks!

Here's the details for the icing:

1/2 cup a butter
2 table spoons of lemon juice (but I used a smidge more)
1/2 tea spoon vanilla extract
3 cups of icing sugar

Blend together and add a little yellow food colouring if you wish. :)
Hope everyone has a lovely day! xo
